Which ending

After a place or a time

theke

For example

Dhaka theke

from Dhaka

From a person

-er kachh theke

For example

Rina-r kachh theke

from Rina

About this rule

How to tell

Put theke straight after the place or time, with no ending:

school thekefrom school
kal thekefrom tomorrow

For a person, say -er kachh theke (from beside someone):

Rina-r kachh thekefrom Rina

Why it works

Theke is the word for from. Like all these little words, it comes after the noun, not before it.

Ekhane (here) and okhane (there) shorten before theke:

ekhan thekefrom here
okhan thekefrom there

Good to know

Theke also means than in comparisons, after the of form: Ami tomar theke boro. (I'm older than you.)
